About the Artist
About George Mattingly
George Mattingly’s life and art are defined by resilience, reinvention, and the belief that it is never too late to begin again.
After showing artistic promise as a child, George set painting aside for decades while building a successful career in carpentry and design. Following major life changes in 2017, he returned to the paintbrush and began a remarkable second chapter.
Largely self-taught, George immersed himself in the study of color, light, composition, and landscape painting. His years in design and construction gave him the patience, discipline, and eye for structure that now shape his artwork.
Today, working from his Granby studio, George creates landscapes, seascapes, portraits, and scenes inspired by the natural world. Each painting reflects a life fully lived—marked by hardship, gratitude, and renewal.
George’s story is proof that creativity can wait patiently, and that passion can return stronger than ever.
